Happy Birthday, Molly!!

Dear Molly,
Today you turn 2 years old and we will celebrate the miracle of your life!

You've been with me now for 4 months,
but you were born in my dreams and in my heart long before we ever met.
I knew I would be a mother some day.
But I didn't know my daughter would be born halfway across the world.
Today I am thinking of your birth mother.
I'm praying for her as I have been all week.
Her heart is heavy on mine today because I want to tell her so many things about you.
I know her decision to leave you within a few days of giving birth to you was not an easy one.
I cannot imagine the pain that is gripping her even to this day.

To have the strength to leave you at the gate of a hospital where she could have been caught was so brave.
She knew you would be found and cared for.
She hoped someone would love you.
She hoped you would have a good life.

If I could just send her one picture of you today and tell her that you are healthy and happy.
That you have a home, a loving family, nice clothes, plenty of food, and a comfy bed all to yourself...
What a sense of peace it would bring to her life, I am sure.

I wonder if she ever thought someone would love your hands and feet?
Did she know they could be made nearly perfect?
What she may have seen as an imperfection became God's perfect way of bringing us together.

I wish I could tell her that you crinkle your nose and make silly faces when we play.
That you love caring for your dolls.
That you have a mothering spirit within you and are very affectionate...giving me kisses often!
I'd tell her that you are so healthy and happy.
That your hair is so gorgeous, everyone is jealous!
That your round face, big brown eyes, and button nose are truly breath taking.
I wonder if you look like her?
I would just like to tell her that I will always take the best care of you.
That I will always love you and provide for you.
That she can sleep easy on this night, knowing that you are ok now.
Finally, I'd want to tell her thank you.
Thank you for sacrificing, and being selfless, and for loving you so much that she gave you up.
There is no greater love.

Because of her I have you!
She will always be a part of our family.
Happy Birthday, Molly!
I love you always!!
