A great tradition to share with kids is the tradition of giving back to others. Whether you choose to give to the local Angel Tree in your mall or give a food basket to a needy family, it is a great lesson for children to be included in these traditions. I have fond memories of my parents supplying 'Santa' for needy family members when I was young who wouldn't have otherwise had any toys on Christmas morning. One Christmas Eve we literally piled the toys in our car and took the toys to their house when the kids went to sleep. It's a great memory.

Christmas Tradition #12
Christmas Tradition #12
I read this online and thought it was great!...I am a really big fan of books and want that to be something that is passed on to my child. So i plan to buy 24 of my most favorite children's Christmas books and wrap them up. Then every Christmas put the wrapped books in a basket by the tree and every night before we go to bed unwrap a book and read it. leading us up the last book on Christmas eve.
** Just thought of this to add to above...on Christmas Eve I would wrap up the Bible so you could save the best story ever told to that special night!

Gracias!

Sweet and Talented Danielle bequeathed me with an award! And in turn I get to bequeath other blogs with said award. Love it.
This award states: This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to other bloggers who must also choose more bloggers and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.
As Danielle said, I'm a little confused with the award being in Spanish, but oh well! If any of you out there in blogland have never received an award...consider yourself so granted!

Each Christmas Eve when I was a child we had Christmas eve snacks and a gift exchange at my grandparents house. Before we left grandpa made sure we saw the evening news during the weather portion so we could see the 'prediction' of when Santa and the reindeer would "land" in Nashville! This was a sure way to get us packed up and heading for home so we would not miss him!
Then on Christmas morning Granny and Papa would come to our house to see what Santa had brought us. They would also go to my cousin's house to see their lute as well. How precious!

Christmas Tradition #10
Christmas Tradition #9
For many years my entire family got together on Christmas Day...grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all the cousins. This was quite a crowd and there was no way we could all exchange presents so we began playing the traditional 'white elephant' or 'greedy Santa' game amongst the crowd. Everyone brought one gift and the tradition began. Many years the game was made even more fun when some people began 'hiding' money inside the gifts. So while you may think you were opening a traditional hat and gloves...you really had a $20 bill inside somewhere. None of my family members are 'rolling in the dough' so the mere sight of the green stuff brought shrieks of laughter and screaming! It would be so funny!

Christmas Tradition #9

Christmas Tradition #9
This tradition is something I've always wanted to do, but have never got around to doing it:
I would love to host a cookie/baked good swap in December. Invite a lot of friends to come and everyone bring a dozen freshly made goodies. Then everyone could swap them among the group for a wonderful assortment to take home. Sound fun?
