our summer fun is over:(

today is my last day of real freedom this summer:(
sadly, it's gone by so quickly
this has been one of the most hectic and nerve wrecking summers i've had in a long while
changing jobs will do that to you

for anyone who has missed it
i left my school where i've been teaching 3rd grade for the last 8 years
after 8 years at the same school, same room, and same grade
i had to really get into the groove to find something new
the longer you stay in the same place, the more comfortable you get even when you need to make a change
it's hard to change

and so now, i'm beginning my 16th year of teaching at a new school in a new grade and in a new county!
i'm really excited about this change!
i'm moving from a large urban district to a much smaller one
it makes such a huge difference!
molly will start pre-k and will go with me to school each day!
so perfect!

so, the reason this summer has been so crazy is because I was interviewing, contemplating, and praying over where to go...what job to accept!
i was so lucky, i had several offers handed to me
and i'm so so thrilled with where i'll end up!

after all of that decision making, it was time to pack the classroom and move
that is no easy job!
in the middle of that move, mom decided to have an opening put in our garage ceiling to make it easier to get to our attic space
i have a large floored attic over my garage, but couldn't get to it easily b/c our furnace was in the way of a clear path
i never really needed the extra space with just me and molly
but, mom had stuff in storage still from her move
so we cleared out her storage and moved it all in the attic

working in the attic in the summer time is not smart!!!
but it's done!

i feel like i've been moving something all summer long!

today i start the liquid phase of my pre surgery diet
tomorrow is the big sleeve day...i'm having a vertical sleeve gastrectomy
i have so many things to finish up today before surgery!

here are some left over pics that never got published...
molly went to the eye doctor for the first time
all clear:)

she got another bolt...one of her favorite animals!
i had to turn in my ipad to my old school...sadness
we loved the ipad!!
she's been tying up more and more things
here she's tying all the doorknobs together in the hallway

molly had a week at drama camp and mom and i spent a day in downtown nashville one afternoon killing time
here is mom on famous printers alley
 drama camp was so cute!
late night grilled cheese after a movie

my impatiens are so pretty!
one day we looked outside and randomly saw all these turkeys in our yard!
this is not something you normally see in a neighborhood!

i helped give my cousin a baby shower
it was "owl" themed
there are a lot of owl ideas out now!
these pink soaps were purchased from ebay
 owl fruit tray
my neighbor made a delicious owl cake & petifores!

 owl cheese ball
we had a small family birthday party for little eddie last night as i'll be recovering on his actual birthday
we shared gluten free cupcakes and dance time on the wii!
eddie will be 6 years old on august 3rd!

we all got in on the dance fun!  this was a first for mom and me!

Sunday Sleeve Update, #2

the big reveal

i hope the actual news doesn't disappoint anyone! ha!
however, i did love some of your guesses!
it's a long video, sorry about that but each week i'll be back to "vlog" the journey...

July update & a big announcement coming soon

where or where has the time gone this summer??
seems like i just turned around and boom we're at the end of july!
there's been a lot going on around our house so here is a quick update of most of it...

little red riding hood dress with angel sleeves, so cute!
molly spent 3 hours a day last week at drama camp at our local children's theater
it was really fun for her
and she desperately needed to get out of the house and be with some peers before school started!
on the last day they had a 30 minute "show and tell" for parents so we could see what they were up to
basically each day they read a story and then acted it out with drama and made some sort of arts & crafts/puppet to go along with it
of course, molly loved the drama part because many of the stories were about animals
so she got to pretend to be a dog, cat, pig, or horse

 her graduation "cap"
mom took some pictures of all of our blooms in our yard
they are so pretty right now as we've had so much rain this spring and summer
my elephant ears are so big and they multiply like crazy!
anybody need some bulbs at the end of the season?  because i'm telling you i always have so many!
i just wrap the bulb in newspaper and store in the garage for the winter and then replant in the spring of each year.
they probably could stay planted through winter, but i wasn't so sure

all of my flowers this year are some shade of pink
each year i try to choose a specific color...last year was red, white, and blue and they were pretty too
i get ideas from the landscaped areas of neighborhoods around me and have a pretty idea for next year!

and so finally, i have a big announcement coming!
i know you hate it when people lead you on and don't tell until later
but i've been working towards something really significant and i'm going to announce it via video later today...
meanwhile i wondered if anybody has any guesses as what i'm going to announce?
a very few people already know, but mostly this will be a surprise
so go ahead, and guess!
i'll be back later tonight with a short video...

summer vacation

we spent several days in sunny florida over the july 4th holiday
only problem was...we never saw the sun! ha!
it rained every single day and we only got to the beach twice:(
it was molly's longest road trip and she did well
here is the rest stop in huntsville, al
it is a very pretty area and she enjoyed seeing the rocket!

we met up with my brother and his family when we got to florida
molly LOVES being with her cousins!!
madison read to the on the first night

eddie spent quite a bit of time at the grocery store stocking up the kitchen for the whole family!
he got us some pretty fruit to make a fruit salad for our first morning there

i took my sno cone maker and the kids had sno cones about 2-3 times/day
we had to make the most of our yucky weather!

our first time at the beach was only a short 1-2 hour visit
but molly loved it all!

she spent a lot of time being a "dog" on the beach! she's so funny!

(again as a "dog", see her tongue out like she's panting??)

we were lucky the rain stopped long enough for the fireworks on the 4th!

and here is our 2nd trip to the beach for a short while between the rain

here, mama maze & eddie are cold from the wind and rain!
and on our last night we squeezed in some customary white & khaki beach family pics!
right after we got on the beach it started sprinkling so we had to rush!

a few "staged) pics with a starfish from the condo!

 mama maze and her grandbabies!

 umbrellas on the beach??

eddie holding up a random umbrella for their family pic!

all in all it was a good vacation
the weather didn't cooperate, but i think the kids had fun anyway
and we got lots of rest time in!
