there is no place like home!!

there is simply not any words to describe what it is like to be home, in america, with fresh air, plenty of ice, lots of air conditioning, and friends and family all around.  i'm exhausted and molly is probably a bit confused but doing really well.  i had a short nap this afternoon and feel much better.  before that i had not slept in probably 48 hours...can you say delirious??  i am a bit sick/nauseous from the jet lag and extreme tiredness and can't seem to lift my head off the pillow.  mom is coming in tonight for the weekend and i am so glad for the help.  i should be able to upload some pics and videos soon if i can get to feeling better.

our only problem is molly still not sleeping unless she is on top of me!  i can't sleep when she is on top of me and she sleeps the best that way.   what to do??  i had to put her in her crib this afternoon and let her cry for a while so i could lay down and nap.  i was dozing off on the couch and she was roaming around the house exploring (ha!) and i was so afraid she would get into something.  after lunch, she needed a nap anyway, so i put her in her crib.  she screamed and cried for about 15-20 minutes but i kept going in there and touching her and trying to calm her so she would know i was close by.  she finally went to sleep and i know she is resting so much better on her own b/c when she's on me or in bed w/ me if i move she get's "mad".  she wants to lay a certain way on top of me and if i bother that "position" it interrupts her sleep.  Then if I try to lay her beside me she wakes up and cries too.  In her own bed she is able to get comfy and rest...she's been asleep for 5 hours!!!  she was so tired!  again, it's such a fine line w/ building attachment to know how much and when to let them cry.  i hope i made the right decision and i hope that he crying in the bed will get less and less.

Amy and Molly, WELCOME HOME!!!! Sounds like you are doing everything right!! You're an awesome mom! I can't wait to see pictures of Molly in her beautiful room you did up for her.

We are so glad you are home safe and were tempted to break through security at Minneapolis St Paul Airport to welcome you.

Can't wait for more photos and I'm so glad your mom is staying for the weekend, you will need her!

Congratulations and blessings!

Hooray! Welcome home! We did not have this trouble with Lydia sleeping. She slept fine by herself. But, I still struggle with figuring out if I should let her cry at all or just be by her side as soon as I hear a whimper. I get worried about the attachment stuff. So far, I've let her fuss a little at nap times, but it usually doesn't last long. And, if she fusses at night, I sometimes will go in. But, most of the time, she's not even awake. So, let me know if you figure it all out! The best advice I have gotten was that I won't screw her up and just to love her. :)

glad to hear you're safe and sound (well, almost sound) at home now. Looking forward to seeing pics of Molly in her room and exploring the house. What fun! Give yourself a few weeks to feel "normal". It takes awhile!

Home is the best place on earth! Sleeping issues are not my forte, but trust your instincts. Neither of mine would sleep in a crib, so we've been creative. Just remember that you are the mommy:)

Welcome home to all that is familiar and homey. I pray that you and Molly will continue to bond and that she begins to feel the peace of her forever home.

YOU'RE HOME!!!!!!!!!! WELCOME HOME, MOLLY!!

I am going to need to see some PHOTOS! I can't wait!

I am so happy for you. I think it's best that she get some sleep, and she knows you're nearby so she should be just fine. Either way, it will take time, but she will learn that you aren't going ANYWHERE.

So happy! You are home with your daughter. With sweet, beautiful Molly.

Did your package come?? I hope it made it!

Welcome home - I've been checking your blog daily and I've loved reading about this important step in your life.

I will not even pretend to have any sort of insight into attachment or sleeping when you bringing home an adopted baby. But, one piece of advice that I've heard a lot and have started dispensing is...Trust your instincts. And, as another comment said, remember: you're the mommy! You know what to do. Love, Jenn

So glad you are home. I have been following your journey and I can't wait to get to meet Molly sometime soon. Praying for your rest. I know Candace had some serious sleep deprivation after returning with Shep. The jet lag and the fatigue from travel and all the excitedness from preparing for the trip all add up. Hope to see you soon. Congratulations!
